Fall foliage season has been incredible here in Kennebunkport Maine, and while the leaves are starting to fall, it sets the perfect stage for a fall holiday like Halloween! We’ve had our first frost, but the hardy mums are still going strong, and the crinkle of leaves is the sound of the season while strolling through our seaside village. You’ll find festive decor all around town with loads of pumpkins, mums, and spooky styles to enjoy!
A drive or walk down Summer Street in Kennebunk is sure to get you in the Halloween spirit, with lots of spider webs, bats, and lighting displays to enjoy with the backdrop of incredible historic homes. Sometimes you need true Halloween activities to celebrate this fall holiday, and fortunately the Kennebunkport area has lots of great events to enjoy.
We started off the Halloween fun last weekend with the Trolley-ween celebration at the Seashore Trolley Museum, where folks of all ages enjoyed a spooky ride on the antique trolley and everyone came in costume. It is great fun for all ages! Today you will find ample trick-or-treating throughout the area. Local businesses open their doors for Halloween fun in Dock Square, Lower Village, and Downtown Kennebunk during daylight hours. But later you can enjoy the full extent of Summer Street’s spookiness with a trick-or-treating stroll from 5 until 9pm!
Of course, no Halloween is complete without a haunted house, so this year check out the Haunted House at Kennebunk High School. The class of 202o has been working on it for weeks and it is sure to be spook-tacular! Federal Jack’s Brew Pub in Lower Village will be hopping later in the evening with their evening musical event. It’s just a short stroll from our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast, so you can enjoy their home brewed beers and not have to get in a car. Plus, on the way home, you might even spot the ghost of Captain Fairfield, who is said to haunt a neighboring establishment – rumored to be the most haunted hotel in Maine! We like to stroll by, but love knowing we’ll sleep soundly tonight at our decidedly not haunted bed and breakfast! But if that doesn’t strike your fancy, there are countless opportunities for haunted hayrides, corn mazes, and pumpkin picking all around the area, so no matter what would complete your fall getaway, you’re sure to find it this Halloween in Kennebunkport Maine!
