Fall foliage season has definitely arrived here on the Maine Coast, and while the colors are perfect for leaf peeping, there are loads of fun activities to enjoy during fall foliage season. As a New Englander born and bred, I know that apple picking and visiting a pumpkin patch are at the top of the “must do” list in the fall. Fortunately, there are lots of spots right around Kennebunkport, Maine to get your “basic” on!
You don’t have to venture far from the Maine Stay to get in the fall spirit because you’ll find pumpkins all over the property–from decorations and centerpieces in the Main House and custom designed fall-themed murals on the Cottages to our decorative planters and very own pumpkin patch. And while you won’t find pumpkin spice in your coffee, we will have fall flavors on the breakfast menu for sure! But for your favorite PSL, check out Morning in Paris or Dock Square Coffee Shop to satisfy your cravings.
Our pumpkin patch sure is cute, but nothing beats heading out into the fields on a beautiful fall day to pick your own pumpkins or apples. Nearby Spiller Farm is a great spot to check out for your perfect pumpkin and your favorite apples fresh from the trees. A newbie has joined the Maine family farm scene just over the Kennebunkport-Arundel border – Frinkelpod Farm provides an awesome fall farm experience and their donuts are out of this world! For the complete fall experience, head out to Dayton Maine and Pumpkin Valley Farm, where you can enjoy a corn maze, hayrides, and rides right to their very own pumpkin patch!
Heading into the field not your cup of tea? Snug Harbor Farm and Patten’s Berry Farm both have a great selection of pumpkins, squash, and gourds (just don’t ask me which is which!) just a few minutes drive from the Maine Stay Inn. No matter which pumpkin patch your decide to visit this fall foliage season, the Southern Maine Coast offers loads of great farms to set the tone for your perfect fall activity!
