Iconic Kennebunkport church, the South Congregational Church, is holding a summer concert series to raise money for the repair and restoration of the church’s organ. Last week marked the first of five summer concerts, and it was absolutely incredible. Each Monday evening, visitors can enjoy the musical stylings on a Steinway piano in the heart of historic Kennebunkport. Admission to the concerts are free, but donations are gladly accepted, as the concerts are a benefit for the rehabilitation of their E&G G Hook organ from 1854.
Stroll through Historic Kennebunkport and Dock Square to the South Congregational Church which overlooks the Kennebunk River Basin.
With the concerts starting at 7 pm, there’s plenty of time for an early dinner before the show. Or you could drop into Rococo or Satellite Donuts for a little snack before the show and enjoy a full dinner at one of the area restaurants afterward.
On August 14, Carson Cooman, the Composer-in-Residence from Memorial Church at Harvard University is the guest performer, and boy will this be such a treat!
Each and every one of these performances is sure to be incredible and a great activity for visitors and locals alike to enjoy on a summer evening.
Fortunately, the Kennebunkport area is home to wonderful cultural opportunities, like the Ogunquit Playhouse, and this summer concert series is the perfect addition to the summertime repertoire.
Looking forward to taking advantage of these musical stylings all for a great cause!
