Memorial Day Weekend feels like just yesterday, but Labor Day Weekend is really just around the corner, and that means lots of great events in the Kennebunkport and Southern Maine area. And the weather forecast looks pretty amazing, so there are even more great outdoor activities to enjoy.
If you can sneak away for an extra day, Thursday is a great day for kayaking, since the forecast looks a little cooler than it has been the past few days (not that we are complaining about super summery weather!). So head over to the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm for a guided kayaking tour of the Little River estuary and the Maine Coast. Then head over to Rococo Ice Cream in Dock Square and cast your vote for your favorite new flavor – the last day to enter is Friday! But voting or not, this is a spot not to miss with their artisanal creations in creative flavors with an indulgent gelato-like consistency. You’ll want to go back again and again!
On Saturday, head across the river to Kennebunk’s Community Market – open from 9am til 2pm, you will find over two dozen crafters displaying their products. Located in the Waterhouse Center in downtown Kennebunk, just a short drive from the Maine Stay Inn, you can check out the craft fair and the local shops and the farmer’s market across the street – but don’t miss out on the incredible French pastry shop, Boulangerie just next door. Consider heading to the Ogunquit Playhouse for the last performances of Grumpy Old Men, with their run finishing up Saturday evening. Featuring Sally Struthers, it is a performance not to be missed!
Sunday is a great day for exploring all that Kennebunkport has to offer, from stunning art galleries to one-of-a-kind boutiques. Or consider visiting local museums and lighthouses for a truly “Maine” experience. This Labor Day Weekend, the Kennebunkport Maine area will be bursting with fun activities – perfect for a vacation to remember!
