Guests enjoy complimentary limo service to the Kennebunkport bed and breakfasts!

Now that the Kennebunkport Festival is underway, a group of Kennebunkport bed and breakfasts are busy preparing for this weekend’s Garden Party.  Tomorrow, guests of any of the Historic Inns of Kennebunkport can enjoy complimentary limo service from inn to inn.  They’ll get an opportunity to explore each of the very unique properties while socializing with other visitors to the area.  Plus, at each of these Kennebunkport bed and breakfasts, they will find refreshing beverages (both adult and otherwise, depending on the location and predetermined menu) and a selection of delectable treats!  At the Maine Stay Inn, visitors will be treated to a true Maine classic – the whoopie pie.  And while we’re serving the traditional devil’s food cake with fluffy marshmallowy filling, we will also be serving “reverse” whoopies with tender golden cake and an ultra-rich chocolate buttercream, and a third variety that will just have to be a surprise!  For the past few weeks, we’ve had many testing sessions and competitions judged by our guests to help select their favorites, and it’s taken all of my willpower to not joke about “making whoopie” – but tonight and tomorrow morning will be filled with making whoopie…pies, that is!

Last year’s Garden Party was a phenomenal success, and serenaded by the musical stylings from the Kennebunkport Festival‘s Brews and Tunes held on the town green just a block away, do all of the participating Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfasts are thrilled to bring it back this year!  Plus, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy some of the offerings of the Kennebunkport Festival without committing to any of the high ticket events.  But as an aside, food and wine lovers who frequent festivals like this one know that the schedule of events provides an intimate setting for incredible selections of culinary creations and locally crafted spirits.  Stay tuned for an update on the Kennebunkport Festival and the Garden Party hosted by the Kennebunkport bed and breakfasts!

to the Maine music scene.  The dining scene in Kennebunkport, as with much of coastal Maine, is red hot, with tons of new restaurants opening under the guidance of top notch chefs, and during the Kennebunkport Festival, the best of the best from other areas of the state are visiting town.  But even if you don’t choose to partake in the exclusive private dinners catered by some of the biggest names in food, you can still take advantage of special festival dinners with prix fixe meals at our favorite restaurants in town.  That means that you can get a “taste” of an elite food and wine festival without committing to any of the bigger ticket events.

But whether you choose to partake in any of the organized events or not, guests choosing to stay at the Maine Stay Inn will enjoy our second annual Garden Party with all of the Historic Inns of Kennebunkport.  That means that visitors will enjoy tasty treats and beverages at each of the inns, but those choosing to imbibe at the selected inns (it’s complimentary, of course!) will also enjoy a chauffeured ride from inn to inn.  Safety first!  Last year’s inaugural Garden Party was such a hit, that we’re eagerly awaiting this year’s fun.  Plus, with a variety of whoopie pies on the menu, we’re going to make sure to bring our appetites.  But even if you choose to join in the fun with some of the ticketed events to the Kennebunkport Festival, this younger event means that you can still enjoy a world class food and wine festival starting at just $15 per event.  No matter how many or few of the 2013 Kennebunkport Festival events you take part in, you’ll be sure to feel the exhilaration of this incredible food and wine festival!

There is one thing, though, that sets this event apart from other food and wine festivals, and that is the incorporation of the arts into this celebration that embodies some of the best parts about Kennebunkport.  So while this quaint village offers a plethora of stunning galleries for your year round viewing pleasure, during this week, some of the most talented artists gather their works for viewing all together with phenomenal edible works of art at your fingertips to enhance your viewing pleasure.  Worried about splurging on one of the Art of Dining experience during your first Kennebunkport Festival experience?  Don’t worry!  Because there is plenty to enjoy without committing to an elegant dinner.  Consider the Historic Inns of Kennebunkport‘s Second Annual Garden Parties, any of the luxe cocktail hours, or even Brews and Tunes, a beer tasting with live music from local artists.  But if you still aren’t ready to commit to tickets, you can still enjoy the wonderful weather that graces Kennebunkport during early June, the amazing restaurants, stunning galleries, and other events held throughout town that aren’t part of the official Kennebunkport Festival 2013.  We’re really looking forward to this celebration and hope you are too!

As part of this weekend’s Kennebunkport Festival festivities, our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast is getting ready to host a fun tea party in our backyard!  In addition to a variety of teas (both hot and chilled!), we’ll be bringing out lots of traditional teatime favorites. Think English inspired – miniature lemon pound cakes with fresh lemon curd, scones and oh-so-indulgent clotted cream,

And given the spectacular weekend forecast, it’s sure to be an awesome event!  So not only will visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the great food and, of course, great company of other guests and staff members from each Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast, but it will be a fantastic chance to admire some of most historic and quintessentially New England spots in town.  Plus, with transportation provided, you won’t have a care in the world.  And because of this Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast garden party, you won’t have to worry about lunch!  Yes, breakfast has been planned to be especially hearty and will certainly carry you until the fun finger foods come out in the afternoon.  So hit the beach, enjoy the art galleries, or hit up the great boutiques in town, but whatever you do, don’t miss the Garden Parties!

Garden Party joins Kennebunkport Festival 2012 itinerary!

For many, the Kennebunkport Festival serves as the area’s official kick-off to summer, and this year instead of sponsoring an event, several small Kennebunkport hotels and inns have teamed up to host a progressive Garden Party.  Much like a “round robin” or progressive dinner, guests of the Historic Inns of Kennebunkport can enjoy a chauffeured tour of each of the unique gardens and lush lawns, and in a limo, no less!  Yes, a limo!  But while most of the inns are within close proximity, but a few require hopping in a car or on a bike, and these Kennebunkport hotels know that after a glass of wine or two, that might not be such a good idea.  So instead, we’re making sure you end up at your destination safely!

Because this great event will be held on the afternoon of June 9, 2012 (from about 3 to 6 for all of you planners out there), the gardens should be rich with flowers and foliage and temperatures ideal for lounging about.  Some of the inns will be serving complimentary wines and nibbles, while others, like the Maine Stay, will 0ffer a tea-tasting.  With warm and iced varieties of different blends and tea time treats (and not just our famous cookies!), the assortment will be ideal for a summer afternoon.  So mingle with visitors and innkeepers alike while resting up for an evening of Kennebunkport Festival activities at each of the participating Kennebunkport hotels and inns – it’s sure to be fun and worry-free!

Kennebunkport Festival Art Show

Don't miss out on the amazing artwork around town during the Kennebunkport Festival!

Kennebunkport Festival is a wonderful way to kick off summer, and enjoy some of the things that make the area particularly unique as a vacation destination.

Some of the most popular events include the Art of Dining dinners held at some of the stunning private residences that dot the area, the chic After Parties, the Grand Tasting, and Brews and Tunes.  The Art of Dining dinners are hosted by incredible chefs, creating custom meals inspired by renowned area artists.  There’s plenty of opportunity to peep at these gorgeous homes, as well as admire the phenomenal artwork present for the evening (but I must admit that the oogling peaks my interest most!).

No matter where you choose to dine, you can take advantage of the rockin’ parties each night at some of the chicest spots in town.  Some of the hotspots this year were Bandaloop Restaurant and Stripers.  With signature cocktails, light apps and great music, the After Party is a great way to spend the evening in Kennebunkport Maine.

A spectacular afternoon!

On a gorgeous early summer afternoon, guests and residents alike visited the Colony Hotel, situated about a mile outside of downtown, to view an incredible display of artwork.  While there, many chose not to miss out on the Grand Tasting, with samples from over 60 restaurants and wineries.  Held on their poolside patio, it was the ideal venue for this event.  Casual mingling and noshing was the perfect way to spend an afternoon.  Back in Dock Square, hundreds headed to the marina for three hours of live music.  While burgers and beers were available (hence the name “Brews and Tunes”), many just enjoyed the perfect spring afternoon.

Kennebunkport Festival Excitement This Weekend

June 2nd, 2011 by avadmin

The Kennebunkport Festival marks the kick-off of summer in Maine, bringing loads of exciting events to Kennebunkport Maine.  For the first time since the inception of this festival, our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast isn’t hosting a resident artist for the weekend.  But that doesn’t mean that this event has lost its focus on the arts.  In fact, the artistic presence may be more prominent than ever!  Starting at noon tomorrow, you can admire the creations of over 40 from across the state at the Colony Hotel.  Local artisan and well known fine furniture maker, Bill Huston, is holding an open house at his workshop all morning and into the afternoon.  And in between, make sure not to miss out on the phenomenal galleries that dot the streets of Kennebunkport Maine.

In the evening, watch the sun set over the Kennebunk River, while enjoying incredible caviar, oysters, and an assortment of adult beverages from sponsors such as Morgan wines and Lanson champagne.  But best of all, you’ll enjoy the company and conversations of fellow gastronomes from across the nation!  After dinner, don’t miss out on the Afterparty at Stripers Restaurant.  Savor light apps and signature cocktails from Double Cross vodka, while jamming alongside singer/songwriter Wayne Morphew.

In case you miss the arts displays, you’ll be able to catch them again at the Colony on Saturday. While you’re in that neck of the woods, pop in to the Grand Tasting, where you can enjoy the products of more than 60 fine restaurants and wineries. If this isn’t really your thing, check out Brews and Tunes (sponsored in part by our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast).  In the heart of the Kennebunkport Maine marina, located just behind the Pilot House Restaurant, you’ll find an assortment of your favorite local musicians, delectable nibbles, and local brews.  Heartwood College of Art will be the beneficiary of this year’s Plein Air Invitational, a perfect interlude between wine tastings, and other amazing sampling opportunities.  Cap off the evening with the After part at Alisson’s Restaurant, just steps from our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast.

This year’s Kennebunkport Festival is sure to be a smash hit, and we’re so proud to be a part of it!

The Kennebunkport Festival is Here!

May 31st, 2011 by avadmin

So you’ve missed Day 1 of the Kennebunkport Festival, but it’s not too late to take part in some or all of the exciting events that make this week so special.  In fact, there’s still room in tomorrow’s “Art of Dining” intimate dinners.  Just

steps from our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast lies the Samuel Stairs House.  This stunning manse was built in 1810 and boasts one of the tallest spiral staircases in New England (it’s three and a half stories high!).  Incredible as it might seem, the truly astounding detail is the preserved wallpaper smuggled into the United States during the Civil War.  So while you are enjoying the delectable creations of Kennebunkport’s very own Chef Gary Caron of Stripers Restaurant, make sure to take special note of this historic home.  Even though this building is still a private home (thank you, Longworth family for welcoming the Kennebunkport Festival!), you’ll enjoy the finest selection of wines from Hall Wines.  Not only will your palate be excited, but so will your eyes – on the works of Craig Mooney.  A renowned artist, Craig is featured in the Maine Art Gallery.

Not in the mood for such a formal event?  Don’t miss out on the After Party at Bandaloop Restaurant.  Always a favorite, it is sure to be hoppin’ tomorrow night.  For just $20, enjoy signature cocktails (and they are always amazing), appetizers, and live music.  Plus, there’s more artwork to be enjoyed by Pam DeSantis Tachibana.  Yep, the Kennebunkport Festival certainly is different than any other food and wine festival, and not just because it has the best location imaginable!  Artistic creations are one of the cornerstones of Kennebunkport Maine, and the festival has stayed true to its roots with the incorporation of substantial amounts of incredible artwork from primarily local artists.

Stay tuned, because there’s so much more to come in this year’s Kennebunkport Festival!
