Holidays in Kennebunkport Maine

Cinco De Mayo in Kennebunkport!

May 5 is a fun and exciting day no matter where you are in the world, but there’s no place I would rather celebrate Cinco de Mayo than in Kennebunkport! Not too many people went all out to celebrate, but it is a festive day no matter what. We usually start off the day right with celebratory breakfast like huevos rancheros or a breakfast burrito, but we got our menu planning confused this year! But not to worry, our Kennebunkport bed and breakfast will get it right… Read More

Celebrating Easter Sunday in Kennebunkport

Easter Sunday brought sunny skies and lots of bright colors to Kennebunkport today. And while there’s little foliage to speak of, the floral displays and pastel attire really brightened up the area. Although Kennebunkport is a quaint little town with just over 3,000 people, there is a surprising number of churches open for Easter service (and even more that open once the weather gets warmer). So while I’m sure I missed more than a few, here is a selection of some houses of worship our guests… Read More

Feeling Irish: Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Kennebunkport

Valentine’s Day may seem like just yesterday, but St. Patrick’s Day is rapidly approaching, and fortunately there are great places to enjoy the luck of the Irish in Kennebunkport. Ryan’s Corner House, an authentic Irish pub, sits just around the corner from the Maine Stay Inn. Whether you’re looking for a great Guinness or some good old corned beef and cabbage, there is something on the menu that is sure to be up your alley. But Kennebunkport is lucky to have another great option for St. Patrick’s… Read More

New Year’s Day at the Maine Stay!

After a fun and relaxing evening at the Maine Stay Inn, full of excellent food, wonderful company, and, of course, watching the infamous ball drop in Times Square, New Year’s Eve gave way to a stunning New Year’s Day in Kennebunkport!  The morning broke with beautifully blue skies, but fortunately only the birds had to be awake for it, because brunch was on the menu instead! This year we dished up a delicious three-course brunch to ring in the new year.  First… Read More

Celebrating New Year’s Eve in Kennebunkport

The Christmas holiday gave all of us at the Maine Stay a chance to enjoy some relaxation time with family, and we’re all recharged and ready to start preparing to ring in the new year in Kennebunkport.  While some people choose to enjoy dinners out, many visitors choose to forgo a restaurant dinner and enjoy the festivities right inside the Maine Stay Inn with our annual New Year’s Eve party.  We started this annual tradition years ago in a low key gathering for staff, local friends, and… Read More

Ringing In the New Year in Kennebunkport!

Every year the holiday season brings lots of fun and merriment to Kennebunkport and the Maine Stay.  A Thanksgiving feast leads into two weeks of Christmas Prelude, followed on its heels with actual Christmas and, of course, our New Year’s Eve party!  Thank goodness I don’t believe that calories exist in the state of Maine (you know… “Maine – the way life should be”), because we sure do a lot of cooking and eating around the Maine Stay Inn at this time of year.… Read More

Christmas Prelude Is Here!

The holiday season comes alive each year with Kennebunkport, Maine‘s Christmas Prelude, and the town is now aglow with millions of glittering lights. The Dock Square tree is lit with its signature lobster topper, and the lobster trap tree in Cape Porpoise is looking especially beautiful.  Christmas garlands line the downtown area and historic district, and historic homes (including our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast) are sparkling with their own Christmas lights. Today dawned with a multitude of craft fairs, shopping extravaganzas, art shows, and… Read More

Black Friday Shopping In Kennebunkport Maine

Kennebunkport Maine may not be home to any big chains (or any at all) or mega malls that you think of when you think “Black Friday” shopping, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not the perfect spot for your post-Thanksgiving shopping sprees! Yes, Kennebunkport itself is known for its assortment of fine shops and galleries, many of which are likely to offer special offers on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, and that means our quaint seaside town is ideal for shopping for… Read More

Looking Forward to Thanksgiving in Kennebunkport

A recent cold snap has really gotten me in the mood to celebrate the upcoming holiday season, and with Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s perfectly appropriate! Turkey Day in Kennebunkport Maine is a particularly lovely time, and that sentiment is always shared by our turkey day visitors. So in addition to enjoying a delectable meal (without the struggle), one of the best things about Thanksgiving is watching the community prepare itself for Christmas Prelude!  There’s something about “decking the halls” that just gets you… Read More
