Whether you’re visiting in the spring, summer, winter or fall, you’ll find no shortage of things to do in Kennebunkport, Maine.

While not an exhaustive list, here are some of our favorite activities broken down seasonally. If you have questions or would like help planning activities for your stay, feel free to call us at (800) 950-2117.

Spring & Summer Possibilities

Beaches, antique shops and galleries, lighthouse tours, kayaking, biking, birding, hiking, surfing, fly fishing, whale watching, golfing, lobster boat or schooner cruises, or just relaxing – Kennebunkport has it all!

  • Ride restored historic electric railway vehicles at the Seashore Trolley Museum of Kennebunkport, and explore their world famous international transportation collection.
  • Tour the Kennebunkport Brewing Company, the home of Shipyard Ales.
  • Watch an old fashioned minor league baseball game with The Portland Seadogs, Boston’s “AA” team, less than an hour away.
  • Visit the local theaters. The Arundel Playhouse and the world class Ogunquit Playhouse offer spectacular summer entertainment.
  • Consider a car-less vacation — ride the Downeaster train from Boston’s North Station to Wells, then hop the trolley and head for Maine Stay Inn. We will happily arrange your bike rentals.

Or you can come to simply relax, enjoy our wrap around front porch, nap in our hammock under the pines, and indulge in an easy game of bocce ball or volleyball with family or other guests of the inn.

Fall & Winter Possibilities

Come enjoy the solace, romance, and beauty of fall and winter in New England!

  • In the fall, visit nearby Spiller Farm for apple and pumpkin picking or an old-fashioned hay ride, or explore the scenic Historic District on a horse-drawn carriage ride.
  • The beaches and nature preserves are perfect for leaf-peeping.
  • Shopping, shopping, shopping — we’re located midway between the two largest shopping outlets in Maine. Kittery Outlet is south and Freeport, home of L.L. Bean, north, plus fabulous boutique shopping in Dock Square right around the corner.
  • Take a romantic horse drawn sleigh ride across the snowy Maine landscape at Rockin’ Horse Stables or cross country ski at Harris Farms.
  • Ice skating opportunities abound – bring your own skates or rent them nearby. Portland’s Pirates, a great minor league hockey team, provide great winter entertainment.
  • If you are a museum fan, visit the Portland Museum, the state’s oldest and largest museum about 30 minutes away.
  • Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude Celebration and famed “February For Lovers” offer excellent excuses for a wintertime visit to Maine.

At Maine Stay Inn, we offer accommodations to suit a variety of travelers, and we’re ideally located for easy access to numerous activities. A short walk will take you into Dock Square, the main shopping and eating area of this pristine, seaside town.
