Historic Inns of Kennebunkport Donate to Food Pantry

We may have been a little late for Giving Tuesday, but today the Historic Inns of Kennebunkport presented our annual donation to the York County Food Pantry. Each year during Christmas Prelude, area bed and breakfasts open their doors to visitors, showing them around the inns so that locals and visitors alike can get a real sense of the personalities of each of the inns–while benefitting a great cause!

Each year during Christmas Prelude, the Historic Inns of Kennebunkport (the Maine Stay Inn included, obviously!), bake up thousands of cookies and tasty treats for one very special reason–to benefit the local food pantry! For a donation, visitors have the opportunity to tour each of the four inns and nibble on signature holiday goodies–and sip on warm beverages too. It is December, after all, and everyone needs a warm up after strolling through the historic district of Kennebunkport.

The 1802 House, Captain Jefferds Inn, Captain Lord Mansion, and the Maine Stay Inn each host their tours slightly differently, but everyone makes sure that the visitors get a good sense of the different personalities of each of the inns.

Here at the Maine Stay, we open the doors to several rooms and bring visitors to see the insides of our unique luxury cottage suites.

But in the dining room, the fun begins! With dozens of cookies and gallons of hot cocoa and coffee, we socialize with the visitors and often hear stories of Kennebunkport locals who have seen the Maine Stay transform over the years.

And this year all those visitors and all those cookies meant an $1800 donation to our area food pantry.

Last spring, one of the largest food pantries in our area closed its doors, and this year the Historic Inns of Kennebunkport donation meant even more to needy families in our area, so we couldn’t have been happier to make our contribution to the community.

And with Christmas Prelude 2016 still underway, we are already looking forward to hosting visitors for Christmas Prelude 2017!
