Ringing In the New Year in Kennebunkport!

Every year the holiday season brings lots of fun and merriment to Kennebunkport and the Maine Stay.  A Thanksgiving feast leads into two weeks of Christmas Prelude, followed on its heels with actual Christmas and, of course, our New Year’s Eve party!  Thank goodness I don’t believe that calories exist in the state of Maine (you know… “Maine – the way life should be”), because we sure do a lot of cooking and eating around the Maine Stay Inn at this time of year.… Read More

Christmas Prelude Lights Up Kennebunkport

It’s hard to believe that the closing weekend of Christmas is already upon us, but tonight’s tree lighting and fireworks display started the festivities off with a bang – literally! Now in its 33rd year, Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude has grown to span a whole 12 days. 12 days of Christmas festivities?  Yes, please! Today’s activities included the lighting of the Dock Square Christmas tree, accompanied with musical performances, art and shopping opportunities, and winter trolley rides.  And after the lighting, crowds of… Read More

Christmas Prelude Is Here!

The holiday season comes alive each year with Kennebunkport, Maine‘s Christmas Prelude, and the town is now aglow with millions of glittering lights. The Dock Square tree is lit with its signature lobster topper, and the lobster trap tree in Cape Porpoise is looking especially beautiful.  Christmas garlands line the downtown area and historic district, and historic homes (including our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast) are sparkling with their own Christmas lights. Today dawned with a multitude of craft fairs, shopping extravaganzas, art shows, and… Read More

Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude is Almost Here!

It’s hard to believe that Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude is just days away now, but with the Thanksgiving turkeys put away and the leftovers nearly polished off, Prelude really is just around the corner!  After a sizable snow shower on Wednesday and Thursday, and a Black Friday dusting, the Dock Square Christmas tree is looking especially festive, and is just begging for Friday’s tree lighting. Black Friday Shopping In Kennebunkport Maine

Kennebunkport Maine may not be home to any big chains (or any at all) or mega malls that you think of when you think “Black Friday” shopping, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not the perfect spot for your post-Thanksgiving shopping sprees! Yes, Kennebunkport itself is known for its assortment of fine shops and galleries, many of which are likely to offer special offers on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, and that means our quaint seaside town is ideal for shopping for… Read More

Looking Forward to Thanksgiving in Kennebunkport

A recent cold snap has really gotten me in the mood to celebrate the upcoming holiday season, and with Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s perfectly appropriate! Turkey Day in Kennebunkport Maine is a particularly lovely time, and that sentiment is always shared by our turkey day visitors. So in addition to enjoying a delectable meal (without the struggle), one of the best things about Thanksgiving is watching the community prepare itself for Christmas Prelude!  There’s something about “decking the halls” that just gets you… Read More

Veterans Save 50% at Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast

Many people are looking forward to celebrating Veteran’s Day this week, and while it’s easy to forget the reason why we have an extra day off from work or school, our Kennebunkport bed and breakfast is taking the opportunity to honor our nation’s veterans.  Unlike Memorial Day, which honors fallen veterans, most communities don’t celebrate with a parade or armed salute in a local cemetery, so it is easy to forget what this national holiday is all about.  We’re expressing our gratitude for those… Read More

Each year, the stunning fall foliage fades and the mercury drops along with the leaves, making way for holiday decorating!  And it’s a darn good thing, because the holiday scenery just wouldn’t be the same… Read More

B&Bs for Vets in Kennebunkport Maine

As a way to thank members of the United States military for their service to this great nation, our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast donates several rooms to veterans each year on Veterans’ Day as part of the “B&Bs for Vets” program. This year, we decided to mix things up a bit and, instead of giving this experience to those who ask first, we requested submissions from disabled and active duty vets to tell us why a stay in Kennebunkport Maine would be important to… Read More
