Anniversaries are a very special event in each of our lives, and today we had the pleasure of sharing a very special one at our Maine bed and breakfast, as innkeepers Judi and Walter celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. But no matter the number of years, it is always a treat to witness the caring and affection shared by couples who treat each other to a little bit of luxury during this special getaway. Although, I have to admit, when it comes to anniversaries, we don’t usually see too much of the love-birds, because they often enjoy the opportunity to have breakfast delivered to the door in some of our suites! So while Judi and Walter were still up early, buzzing about the Maine Stay, they had the opportunity to share their special day with some wonderful visitors, some of whom were even celebrating anniversaries of their own. And fortunately for visitors and residents alike, there are almost limitless possibilities for enjoying a romantic dinner in the Kennebunkport area. Whether you want an intimate candle-lit dinner overlooking the water or a five star dining experience with servers in bow ties and cumber buns, the area around our Maine bed and breakfast has it all, which means that you can enjoy a romantic meal before heading back to the inn. And with many rooms and suites offering king sized beds, gas fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, and cozy sofas for snuggling, you can indulge in a little bit of rest, relaxation, and pampering during your anniversary getaway. Now, everyone visiting our Maine bed and breakfast will enjoy afternoon tea and freshly baked cookies and gourmet breakfast, but when folks are celebrating an anniversary, we try to add a little extra surprise to make their stay extra memorable, so the next time you have a special event to celebrate, treat your special someone to a Kennebunkport getaway!

Did you know that August is National Goat Cheese Month? I sure didn’t! But as usual, I can’t think of a better place to celebrate than in Kennebunkport Maine. Some of our favorite restaurants offer fantastic dishes featuring goat cheese, as do some popular entrees at our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast. One of my favorite things about summertime is the plethora of fresh, juicy berries, something that we feature regularly on the morning menu. And conveniently,
strawberries go great with goat cheese! So later this week, in honor of National Goat Cheese Month, we will be serving broiled strawberry goat cheese bruschetta. As we typically do, we’ll serve this delightful breakfast with a lightly oiled baby arugula salad, giving you a little extra bite and nutritional punch!
But there are plenty of other opportunities to get your goat cheese fix in Kennebunkport Maine, not the least of which are the amazing restaurants in town. For all you goat cheese fanatics out there, here’s a peek into some menu items that might be up your alley, but are surely in the spirit of the month! In case you didn’t get your fill of strawberries and goat cheese at breakfast, you can indulge (without the guilt, of course) in a strawberry goat cheese salad at Federal Jack’s Brew Pub, which comes dressed in a basil vinaigrette and sprinkled with sunflower seeds for extra crunch. Top it with some grilled chicken to make it a balanced meal. Just down the street, Alisson’s Restaurant does their take, adding blueberries (for authentic Maine flavor) and slivered almonds, but take a sweeter approach with a strawberry dressing. As long as you don’t mind a quick drive (the view is more than worth it, I promise), a trip to Pier 77 and the Ramp for an out-of-this-world spinach salad topped with softened goat cheese is a must. No matter the month, this is my go-to order and it is always fabulous! If a salad just won’t cut the mustard, the traditional bruschetta or four cheese pizza in Grissini‘s Grotto might just hit the spot. Looking for a romantic setting? How about On the Marsh Bistro and their Tagliatelle pasta with, what else, but delicious goat cheese! But if nothing but straight up cheese will do, head to Old Vines Wine Bar for a glass of wine and the finest aged bucheron. No matter what you choose, Kennebunkport Maine is clearly the perfect place to celebrate National Goat Cheese Month this August.

With Memorial Day Weekend off to a great start, all of us in Kennebunkport Maine are looking forward to next week’s exciting event – the Kennebunkport Festival. This kick-off to summer has been around for several years under a variety of names, including Arts in the Inns and the Kennebunkport Fine Living Festival, but this year the reins have been turned over to Maine Magazine. Despite all the changes, the Kennebunkport Festival is celebrating the start of the summer season with a five-day party honoring the best of Maine living – incredible food and wine, warm hospitality, fantastic artwork, and an amazing destination – Kennebunkport Maine.
From May 31-June 5, enjoy the finest things in life (while some events have sticker prices to match, others are free!) in a destination you already know you love – or one you are just beginning to discover. The beauty of the Kennebunkport Festival is that you can pick and choose your involvement – stay for five days and indulge in outstanding private dinners in area mansions, or come for a night and enjoy great craft beer and live bands. There’s something for
everyone! Some folks might favor events like Oysters and Pearls or the Grand Tasting, while others may prefer the lively After parties at some of Kennebunkport’s hippest restaurants or Brews and Tunes (sponsored by the Historic Inns of Kennebunkport, of course!).
And don’t forget, ticket holders will receive 50% off their third night at our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast, perfectly located to enjoy all of the Kennebunkport Festival! Walk to great dining (and, more importantly, the rockin’ After parties), live musical performances, and phenomenal tastings sure to excite your palate. But don’t neglect your other palette – your artistic one! With amazing artists and galleries filling the town, you’re eyes won’t be neglected. We hope you’ll join us next week for this incredible event – enjoy!

Yesterday was my 24th birthday, which got me thinking about what an awesome surprise an escape to a Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast would be! So I spent an inordinate amount of time today day-dreaming about what my perfect birthday vacation in Kennebunkport Maine would entail. Here goes!
The room: Now, I have an obsession with historical architecture, so I would want to stay in the main house (in case you’re curious, my favorite color is green – you can figure it out). I also really like to talk with people, so I wouldn’t miss out on dining at the breakfast table with other guests. However, if that wasn’t my thing, I would absolutely pick a
Cottage Suite with a double jacuzzi tub. What girl doesn’t love a good soak?
The food: Our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast is just steps from downtown, with passels of great restaurants. I would definitely make reservations at my favorite spots for dinner, but would play lunchtime by ear. Since I absolutely adore picnics, that would definitely be a must. A variety of casual dining restaurants offer take out options, but there are also two excellent catering companies that have picnic-perfect goodies. As far as dinner goes, I would definitely want to walk so that I could enjoy a celebratory cocktail. Plus sunsets on the bridge are not to be missed. So my picks would probably be for an “in-between” restaurant (one with amazing food, but where I could go in nice jeans or a cute dress depending on my mood… or the weather).
The plan: The whole premise of our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast is to provide people with the kind of experience they want. I would want to play outside! That means long walks on the beach (I am not kidding) and through the historic district. I would want to visit Laudholm Farm and stroll the Marginal Way. And I have always wanted to explore Mount Agamenticus, where you can apparently see the ocean from the top of the hill! But what I would really want is to be surprised, whether that means gourmet dessert delivered to my door, spectacular floral arrangements, or a getaway that kept me completely in the dark.
So that’s my idea of a perfect birthday getaway, but at our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast, we’re here to help make your birthday escape exactly what you need.

With Mother’s Day just around they corner, it’s time to pull out all the stops – time to book a getaway to our
Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast. What more could a mom want? We’ll bake the cookies, do all the cleaning (don’t worry, it will exceed even her standards), and serve her a gourmet breakfast. A springtime visit to Kennebunkport Maine is sure to refresh any mom in your life.
So score a slam-dunk this year and make a reservation at a Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast (bring the kids or leave ‘em at home – if they’re still in the nest!). We’ll start pampering that special lady from the second she walks through our door. While we help familiarize her with Kennebunkport Maine, we’ll treat her to delicious freshly baked cookies. Since spring has finally sprung, she might not be in the mood for a steaming cup of tea, but enough coffee to keep her going to explore Dock Square and our famous beaches. Our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast is just steps from dozens of incredible dining spots, offering everything from “take-a-number” fried clams to elegant five star dining. So no matter her tastes, we’ve got something for her. You can relax in front of a glowing gas fireplace on a cool spring evening or watch the sunset from our wraparound porch. A soak in one of our jacuzzi tubs might be just the thing she needs to unwind.
In the morning, our famous gourmet breakfast will be waiting. Think she needs breakfast in bed? Skip the kiddo’s attempt at scrambled eggs and cereal and have a piping hot plate delivered to your cottage suite in Kennebunkport Maine. But if the mom in your life just can’t leave the little ones at home, bring them with you and enjoy a stress-free family outing! So pack your bags and head to our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast this Mother’s Day. But don’t worry – if you’ve already made plans for this weekend, Kennebunkport is an excellent place to visit at any point throughout the year.
