Gearing Up For July 4th in Kennebunkport

Our flag will be flying high on July 4th!
Our flag will be flying high on July 4th!

It’s hard to believe that July 4th is right around the corner, but with summer in the air, we really know it’s true! And now that summertime is really here, the Kennebunkport hotels and bed and breakfasts are gearing up for a great celebration!  And as we get closer to Independence Day, hints of red, white and blue crop up all around Kennebunkport.  The Maine Stay Inn is no exception, as we fly the American Flag and get our red Cottage doors in tip top shape.  Most importantly, though, we encourage all of our staff to dress their best in red, white, and blue to celebrate.  And with our flags out and flying proudly, we’re excited to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day!  Each year, we look forward to taking our patriotic theme just a bit farther, and incorporating this color scheme into our menus as well.  So this year, we will be serving our gourmet breakfast with an infusion of patriotic colors, but I am spoiling the surprise about the menu – you’ll just have to wait for updates on that!

Now, no Fourth of July would be complete without incredible fireworks, and Kennebunkport is definitely not dropping the ball on this one.  There is always a fantastic show right off the Kennebunk beaches, and with ample viewing spots around Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, you won’t have to miss the great show.  Some of our favorite spots include  Colony beach (named for its location just across the street from that Kennebunkport hotel) or out on the jetty. I have to admit, though, that I am partial to this spot because it’s just a short walk from the Maine Stay, which means that you don’t have to fight any post-show gridlock in a car. Plus, it’s perfectly situated so you can grab a cup or cone of your favorite ice cream at Mabel’s ice cream window before staking claim on your viewing spot.  Mmmm!  No matter where you choose to view the fireworks in town this year, it’s clear that at the Kennebunkport hotels and B&Bs are getting excited for July 4th!
