A Great Memorial Day Weekend in Kennebunkport Maine!

It’s hard to believe that Memorial Day Weekend has come and gone, and that means that summer has arrived in Kennebunkport Maine! And while the weather forecast looked more than a bit iffy, Mother Nature, brought us some truly gorgeous weather this weekend.

Even though temps were warm, no one decided to eat on the porch – lots opted for romantic breakfasts in their very own cottage suites, and another good bunch chose to be social with other guests. They lounged, drank coffee, and shared stories with us and their fellow guests for hours, so we know they were having a great time… and so were we!

Welcome to Kennebunkport!
Welcome to Kennebunkport!

Sure, this Memorial Day Weekend brought folks enjoying the leisurely life in Kennebunkport, but others opted for renting bikes or kayaks, hitting the area beaches, and exploring great hiking trails at some of the countless nature preserves in the area.  But one thing everyone enjoyed was the great food in Kennebunkport Maine, and no matter the star rating, cuisine, or setting, lobster topped the lists of almost everyone! Obviously not for dessert, but the dessert scene is just as fantastic as the dining scene in towne.  We heard lots of reviews for Rococo, the local artisan crafted ice cream shop, the Sweet Shack, the Candy Man, and, of course, the ever popular Ben and Jerry’s!

Now, no Memorial Day weekend would be complete without a parade, and we certainly didn’t let you down.  The wonderful volunteers set up in a light rain, but the showers broke and skies cleared just in time for a great parade to honor past and present military members and for former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara’s first public foray of the season.  They were looking just great! No matter how you chose to celebrate this year’s Memorial Day Weekend, we hope you  had just as much fun as we did in Kennebunkport Maine!
