As many of you know, the winter time is full of hustle and bustle at our Maine Bed and Breakfast, because in addition to visiting with incredible guests, we also are working to check off an infinite

number of projects.  And of course, there are the not so fun tasks, like helping Walter clean out his office, which morphs from office to storage room/workshop/closet for outdoor winter clothes in record time.  But the most fun are the transformations of rooms and suites across the property.  We certainly tackled some big ones this year, and Romantic Cottage Suite 3 is no exception!

With rich burgundy wallpaper, Cottage Suite 3 sometimes made it feel smaller than other rooms of the same size, so when planning the makeover, we knew we had to lighten it up.  Renovations, like most things at the Maine Stay Inn, are all about teamwork and the team all agreed on one thing – the great mahogany plantation bed  just had to stay!  That said,

we knew the queen sized bed was just not going to cut it, so we turned to local craftsmen for help.  Fortunately, they were able to create a stunning California King headboard out of the original!  So now, not only does Romantic Suite 3 have a double whirlpool, a gas fireplace, hardwood floors, and a breakfast room with the option of

breakfast delivered straight to your door, but it’s got a huge bed with a super plush pillow top mattress!  We decided to take a truly transitional approach when designing this suite, with contemporary geometric patterns and design elements balancing out the classic lines pieces like our beloved headboard.  Truth be told, we couldn’t be happier with the results, but the most important opinions to us aren’t our own – they’re yours!  So let us know what you think of the change we’ve made at our Maine bed and breakfast!
