Kennebunkport Maine is the perfect place to beat the heat this summer, and there’s no better destination than our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast. These days, one of the first questions I am asked is whether we have air conditioning, and yes, we do. But as the evening breeze picks up, most guests tend to forgo the A/C for the soft, slightly salty air coming through their windows. So as the weather heats up, head north to cool down! Even in
Kennebunkport Maine, however, the days can be on the toasty side, but fortunately there are ample ways to chill out.
Sometimes there’s no better spot than a shady area in the backyard at our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast! Grab a good book, a glass of iced tea from the dining room, and enjoy one of our zero gravity loungers or classic (but fun colored!) Adirondack chairs and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Plus, you’ll hear the horse drawn carriage clopping down Maine Street!
A sailboat ride on the Schooner Eleanor is a sure-fire way to guarantee a great breeze no matter the time of
day or direction of the tides. Just a one block stroll from our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast, Arundel Wharf is home to this stunning 55′ custom vessel. These two-hour sails leave three times daily (weather dependent, of course) and offer guests a scenic tour of the Maine coastline on a traditional gaff rigged schooner. Although bottled water is provided, bringing a packed lunch is something we highly encourage for an on-the-water picnic!
Nothing tastes better while strolling through downtown Kennebunkport Maine than a scoop or two (or three!) of ice
cream, and fortunately this area provides a plethora of amazing scoop shacks! Try Ben and Jerry’s, a New England favorite, or head over to Aunt Marie’s for Maine-made creations. Roly’s English Fudge serves up a phenomenal gelato that, while not a creamy, is certainly better for the waistline! For a wider selection of flavors and homemade blends, check out Goose Rocks Dairy, a 7 minute drive outside of town, or Big Daddy’s, located just South of our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast in Wells.
But the best way to cool off this summer is at one of the many beaches in Kennebunkport Maine. A short bike ride is the preferred way of reaching Parson’s Beach, a private oasis, opened to the respectful public (that means no bonfires, littering, or pets). The closest stretch of sands can be found just a mile from our Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast at Gooch’s, Middle, and Mother’s Beaches, where you can use the complimentary parking passes we provide! Plus, the on street parking means that you won’t ever have to schlep your gear too far! The crystal clear Atlantic surf is sure to cool you down on even the warmest of days!
